The Masterplan by Dead Melodies - A Droning Showcase of Inspired Brilliance

Stories, Music - parallel and congruous, evocative and mesmerizing; used to convey narrative and emotion and many other things too long to list, but among them, always: story and narrative. Cryo Chamber is a music label that is devoted and dedicated to not only the finest fidelity of the dark ambient and drone genres but also to present the most thought-provoking and imaginative - dare I write bleak? - soundscapes.

The Masterplan, by Dead Melodies, is the newest release from the Cryo Chamber stable, and it is an aural vista of narrative exposition into science fiction apocalypse - or perhaps, a sober prophecy; a fantasy epic put to narrative composition using somber drones and scintillating percussives. This album is a somber, extrospansive tale of technological progress and societal collapse. The story's premise and the frame are revealed in the album's description (a flourish I absolutely love, by the way), giving plenty of background exposition to get the listener intrigued, whereupon the setting and atmosphere of this story is left to the listener's mind to construct as the droning ambiance carries the imagination; moaning winds arcing through decrepit, skeletal skyscrapers lament while foreboding groans of ancient machines tremble the dead Earth beneath them, cracking mud that has caked upon the calcified bones of a halved human race. That is correct - halved; welcome to Earth 2.0…

Read the short precis to this evocative work, and let the drones export you to a contemporaneous world, a parallel Earth - or perhaps, a future Earth - yet once again showing the brilliance of Dead Melodies, and why this album is part of the Cry Chamber roster; The Masterplan is a droning showcase of inspired, imaginative brilliance.

You can hear The Masterplan by Dead Melodies on Bandcamp, as well as purchase a CD digipack.
