Explore the Husk of a Derelict Space Vessel with Dronny Darko and Phaedrus

If ever there was an artist whose oeuvre is never complacent nor predictable, that is certainly the brilliant Oleg Puzan, whose work is released under the moniker, Dronny Darko. As one of the earliest alumni on the Cryo Chamber label, his work consistently impresses, while also shifting in mood and theme - never a dull moment, really. The newest atmospheric release from Cryo Chamber has Dronny Darko teaming with a mysterious project called Phaedrus and giving us Quasi, a mood-laden atmospheric imaginative journey of slow-paced, methodical exploration.

Droning pads layered with atonal atmospheres that weave in an among the transom of the listener are the sonic signatures of Dronny Darko, and this album is annotated accordingly; Puzan’s handwriting is clearly present, while the album on the whole is a languorous treading of classic (and grand) science fiction.

Quasi opens with the description of a derelict ship, drifting stolidly in the infinite of space. A battery is replaced inside a power module, and as power begins to feed into the ship, an alien life of fractal esotericism can be seen on the surface. The rest of the ship is silent - a tomb.

This is an album for those who enjoy the dread notions of an Arthur C. Clark novel; of the slow, tense dread of a Ridley Scott sci fi film, and Quasi is perfect as a background listen for relaxing, or for imagination fuel and daydreaming.
