Dronny Darko and ProtoU are two of the most prolific artists in the cinematic dark ambient scene, with several collaborative releases to their credit - the most recent being Metta (2020). Four years have passed since their last excursion into the spiritual folds of sonic textures and now they have returned with another aural journey; their latest release, Acoustics of Shadows, is yet another languid piece of subtle drone ambience exploring the themes of light and darkness, sound and silence, and the hidden dimensions of reality.

This is not a collection of songs for rapid kinetic movement, nor is this a collection of songs with an immediate “payoff” - Dronny Darko and ProtoU are masters at taking their time with a sonic landscape, quietly filling voids in the transom with delicate flourishes of pads and intricate filigrees of soft winds and gentle, inflective tones that even mimic percussion; this is an album for quiet contemplation, for playing in the background while performing other tasks, or simply sitting and letting the mind wander, allowing the skillful nuances of the tracks guide the mind to its own introspective destinations. Dronny Darko and ProtoU both have their own identifying styles and sonic signatures, and yet their artistry coalesces beautifully in this album, each one adding and subtracting from the other in a beautiful ebb and flow of gentle tones.
