Listen to the Lost Loops - A Collection of Unreleased Mount Shrine Brilliance

In 2019, the world lost one of the greatest composers of atmospheric ambient. Prolific artist Cesare Alexandre was a genius with his gentle, reserved proclivities of sound design and demure musical experiments. His absence is a void that is still felt in the ambient scene, and yet his music - while not a physical substitute - helps to soothe the ache slightly, and in a sense, salve the emotional wounds. His was a music of warm embrace, standing out among the releases of the usual dread and nihilism of dark ambience, and his Mount Shrine albums still inspire to this day.

Lost Loops Collection is exactly how it reads: a collection of all underground recordings and albums by Mount Shrine compiled into a massive, five-disc release. Label owner Simon Heath has remastered and released this endearing compendium of Mount Shrine releases, a culmination of four hours of Cesare Alexandre’s subtle mastery with his gossamer ambience. Gentle rains and field recordings wrapped in subtle blankets of warm synth pads and soothing atonal raiment abound in this release, reminding us once more of the gentle brilliance of the composer.

This will be the best way end to the review, honestly. More need not be written in regards to the unfortunate passing of Alexandre, and we can enjoy this final, wonderfully unexpected gift of more Mount Shrine compositions, along with his brilliant catalog of previous releases on the Cryo Chamber label. This four hour collection of Mount Shrine music can be purchased in a five-disc CD Digipak or digital formats on the Cryo Chamber bandcamp page.
