Introspection and allure from two masters of their craft, Dronny Darko and ProtoU.

Introspection and allure from two masters of their craft, Dronny Darko and ProtoU.

Two masters of droning weavework, Dronny Darko and ProtoU, have joined forces once more, extending their meditations into yet another offering of transcendental, organic drones via the iconic Cryo Chamber label. Continuing the biotic ruminations they began with their first collaborative offering (Earth Songs), the sound designers extraordinaire have delivered Metta, a sixty-one-minute joining of the spiritual, a conjunction of two artistic personalities, converged into an ethereal miasma of melodic sound textures. dreamy pads, subdued, live field recordings, ghostly, haunting choirs, and gossamer percussion - this album not only sounds organic, it feels organic.

These are more than songs - these are meditations of the spirit; a breath of verse and a chorus of inflection. The tones guide you, not unlike a guided meditation, and the beauty is in the faceless narrative, the kinetic propulsion of the drone is what guides you along the paths of the music. While there is a definite concept to this release, that concept is relegated to the listener, with cues given via the thought-provoking artwork.

There is a spiritual communion at work within the frame of this album, a conscious effort to exude an organic intimacy, as each song offers both an individual experience of sound, yet also forming a cohesive, full spectrum of sound design tapestry. There is no agenda with this piece, no exacting compulsion to hammer a point; rather, this is a relaxing, meditative hymn of inflection, allowing the listener to turn inward. A definite must-have for those seeking a relaxing musical escape.

Metta can be purchased digitally and on CD at the Cryo Chamber store on Bandcamp.
